ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ | Amrita Pritam
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਇਕ ਕਵਿਤਰੀ ਵਜੋਂ ਜਾਣੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਸਦਾ ਜਨਮ 31 ਅਗਸਤ 1919 ਨੂੰ ਗੁਜਰਾਂਵਾਲਾ (ਹੁਣ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ) ਵਿਚ ਹੋਇਆ। 1933 ਵਿਚ ਉਸਨੇ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਪਾਸ ਕੀਤੀ, ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿਚ 15 ਮਈ 1973 ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਡੀ. ਲਿਟ ਦੀ ਆਨਰੇਰੀ ਡਿਗਰੀ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਈ। 1936 ਵਿਚ ਉਸਦਾ ਵਿਆਹ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਕਵਾਤੜਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਇਆ। ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਖੱਲਸ ਵਜੋਂ ਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜਿਆ। ਉਸਦੇ ਦੋ ਬੱਚੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨਵਰਾਜ ਅਤੇ ਪੁੱਤਰੀ ਕੰਦਲਾ ਹੋਏ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਆਹੁਤਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਸਨੇ 1960 ਵਿਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਦ ਉਸਦੇ ਸ਼ਾਇਰ ਸਾਹਿਰ ਲੁਧਿਆਣਵੀ ਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਚਿੱਤਰਕਾਰ ਇਮਰੋਜ਼ ਨਾਲ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਹਲਕਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਮ ਜਾਣੀ/ਸੁਣੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੇ ਵੀਹਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਅਹਿਮ ਕਵੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ‘ਅੱਜ ਆਖਾਂ ਵਾਰਸ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੂੰ’ ਉਸਦੀ ਸ਼ਾਹਕਾਰ ਰਚਨਾ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਵੰਡ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਿਤ ਚੋਟੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ੁਮਾਰ ਹੈ। ਕਵਿਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਸਿਵਾ ਉਸਨੇ ਨਾਵਲ ਰਚਨਾ ਵੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਤੇ ਵਾਰਤਕ ਵੀ ਲਿਖੀ। ਪਿੰਜਰ ਉਸਦਾ ਬਹੁ ਚਰਚਿਤ ਨਾਵਲ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਨਾਵਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਏਸੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਫਿਲਮ ਵੀ ਬਣ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ। ਛੇ ਦਹਾਕਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਫੈਲੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਉਸਨੇ ਕਵਿਤਾ, ਨਾਵਲ, ਜੀਵਨੀ, ਨਿਬੰਧ ਆਦਿ ਵਿਧਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ੧੦੦ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਲਿਖੀਆਂ ਹਨ| ਇਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋ ਇਕ ਆਤਮ ਕਥਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਲੋਕ ਗੀਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਵੀ ਹੈ। ਰਸੀਦੀ ਟਿਕਟ ਉਸਦੀ ਆਤਮ ਕਥਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸਦੀਆਂ ਕਿਤਾਬਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਈ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਨੁਵਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਾ ਦੀ ਲਿਖਤ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਰੋਮਾਂਟਿਕ-ਪ੍ਰਗਤੀਵਾਦ ਝਲਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸਨੇ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਔਰਤ ਦੀ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਸੁਨੇਹੜੇ, ਕਾਗਜ਼ ਤੇ ਕੈਨਵਸ, ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਫੇਰ ਮਿਲਾਂਗੀ ਆਦਿ ਉਸਦੀਆਂ ਕਾਵਿ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਹਨ। ਸੁਨਹੇੜੇ ਲਈ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਅਕਾਦਮੀ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਇਆ।
Amrita Pritam was an Indian maverick writer and poet. She is considered the first eminent female Punjabi writer, novelist, and poet of the 20th century. Her writing is equally loved by the people of India and Pakistan. In her over 6 decades long career, she produced over hundred works, including poetry, essays, novels, biographies, etc. She was honoured with prestigious awards like the ‘Sahitya Akademi,’ ‘Bharatiya Jnanpith,’ and ‘Padma Vibhushan’ among many others. One of her most famous novels titled ‘Pinjar’ was made into a movie of the same name. She also penned an autobiography, in which she expressed her audacity by writing about her personal life, which might be considered ‘controversial’ by many, even in contemporary India. Amrita Pritam is most remembered for her poem, ‘Ajj aakhaan Waris Shah nu.’
During her life term she was bestowed with the Sahitya Academy Award, Punjab Rattan Award, Bhartiya Janpath Award, Padma Shri Award, D.Litt. Honorary Degrees conferred by Jabalpur University, Delhi University and Vishwa Bharati University among others.
Her famous books among others include- Raseedi Ticket (an autobiography), Pinjar, Kagaz te Canvas, Mai tenu pher Milange, and Khamoshi ton Pehlan. (Source – Culrural India)
