ਮੰਟੋ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਰੱਬ ਸੀ। ਕਹਾਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਸਿਵਾ ਉਸਨੇ ਡਰਾਮੇ ਅਤੇ ਰੇਖਾ ਚਿੱਤਰ ਵੀ ਲਿਖੇ। ਇਸ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਆਦਤ ਹਸਨ ਮੰਟੋ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੋਣਵੀਆਂ ਲਿਖਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡ ਵੇਲੇ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਚਲਾ ਗਿਆ। ਮੰਟੋ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਰੂਰ ਸੱਚਾਈਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਲਿਖਣ ਲਈ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਹਿੰਮਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ। ਦੇਸ ਵੰਡ ਬਾਰੇ ਉਸਦੀਆਂ ਕਹਾਣੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਸਾਨੀ ਨਹੀਂ। ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਪਾਠਕਾਂ ਤੀਕ ਮੰਟੋ ਪੁੱਜਣਾ, ਸਾਡੀ ਖੁਸ਼ਕਿਸਮਤੀ ਹੈ।

This book comprises the selective writings of Saadat Hassan Manto. He was born in India but later moved to Pakistan during the partition. Manto was known to write about the hard truths of the society that no one dared to talk about. He is best known for his stories about the partition of our country immediately following independence, which he disapproves of.
