‘ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿੰਡ’ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਦੀ ‘ਮੇਰਾ ਦਾਗ਼ਿਸਤਾਨ’ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ‘ਮੇਰਾ ਪਿੰਡ’ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਵੀ ‘ਮੇਰਾ ਦਾਗ਼ਿਸਤਾਨ’ ਵਾਂਗ ਕਿਸੇ ਖਿੱਤੇ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਪਛਾਣ ਨੂੰ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦਾ ਇਕ ਸਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਕੋਸ਼ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਪਿੰਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿਆਣਪਾਂ, ਰੀਤੀ-ਰਿਵਾਜ਼ਾਂ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਤਿਉਹਾਰਾਂ, ਜਨਮ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮਰਨ ਸਮੇਂ ਤਕ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਸਮਾਂ ਆਦਿ ਅਨੇਕ ਪੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਤ੍ਰਿਤ ਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਲੇਖਕ ਹਾਮੀ ਤਾਂ ਕੇਵਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਭਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਇਸ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਵਿਚ ਸਮੁੱਚੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।

In his book ‘Mera Pind’ (My Village), Giani ji gives an enchanting description of all rituals followed in Punjab starting from birth to marriage to death and all other occasions.

In his attempt to portray a picture of his native village, this book inadvertently serves as a mirror to the whole civilization of Punjab. 

Reading it takes you closer not to the brick & mortar of our villages, but to the alluring fragrance that floats across our motherland, our ‘Pind.’

In a way, this book serves as a dictionary to understand the heart of Punjab.
