ਨਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਕਪੂਰ ਇਕ ਜਾਣੇ ਪਹਿਚਾਣੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਾਰਤਕ ਲੇਖਕ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ 6 ਮਾਰਚ, 1944 ਨੂੰ ਰਾਵਲਪਿੰਡੀ (ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ) ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਅੱਧੀ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਇਆ। ਬਟਵਾਰੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਕਈ ਇਕ ਰਫ਼ਿਊਜੀ ਕੈਂਪਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਪਟਿਆਲੇ ਆਣ ਵਸਿਆ।

ਨਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਕਪੂਰ ਅੱਜ ਜਿਸ ਮੁਕਾਮ ‘ਤੇ ਹਨ, ਇਹ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਨਿਰੰਤਰ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਟਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਇਕ ਗਰੀਬ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਸਨ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਖਾਤਿਰ ਅਨੇਕ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨੇ ਪਏ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਡਾਕਟਰ ਦੇ ਕਲੀਨਿਕ ਵਿਚ ਝਾੜੂ ਮਾਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਸਿਨੇਮਾ ਹਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਮੱਠੀਆਂ ਵੇਚਣ ਤੀਕ ਕਈ ਕੰਮ ਰੋਜ਼ੀ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੇ। ਲਗਨ ਤੇ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਸਦਕਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਿਲਾਸਫੀ, ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਤਿੰਨ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਸਟਰ ਡਿਗਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਸਿਵਾ ਡਿਪਲੋਮਾ ਇਨ ਫਰੈਂਚ, ਐੱਲ. ਐੱਲ. ਬੀ. ਅਤੇ ਜਰਨਲਿਜ਼ਮ ਵਿਚ ਪੀਐਚ. ਡੀ. ਕੀਤੀ। ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ 30 ਤੋਂ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਸਮਾਂ ਅਧਿਆਪਨ ਕਾਰਜ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਇਕ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਲੰਮੇ ਤਜਰਬੇ ਸਦਕਾ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਬਹੁਭਿੰਨਾ ਤੇ ਵਸੀਹ ਹੈ।

ਨਰਿੰਦਰ ਕਪੂਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਚਨਾਵਾਂ ਸਮਾਜਕ, ਸਭਿਆਚਾਰਕ ਤੇ ਮਾਨਸਿਕ ਵਰਤਾਰਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਡੂੰਘੇ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਜਿਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਵਿਭਿੰਨ ਛੋਟੇ-ਵੱਡੇ ਮਸਲਿਆਂ/ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਲਿਖਤਾਂ ਪਾਠਕ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਰੁਖ ਮਾਰਗਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਹਾਈ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।

ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਡੇਢ ਦਰਜਨ ਦੇ ਕਰੀਬ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਚਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਮਾਲਾ ਮਣਕੇ, ਡੂੰਘੀਆਂ ਸਿਖਰਾਂ, ਖਿੜਕੀਆਂ, ਦਰ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਆਦਿ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ੍ਵੈ ਜੀਵਨੀ ਧੁੱਪਾਂ-ਛਾਵਾਂ ਵੀ ਹਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਵਿਚ ਬਹੁਮੁੱਲੇ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਰੋਮਣੀ ਸਾਹਿਤਕਾਰ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੈ।

Narinder Singh Kapoor, a well-known name among Punjabi writers, was born on the 6^th of March 1944, in a village named Adhi in Rawalpindi district (now Pakistan). After partition, his family has to take refuse in multiple refugee camps before finally settling in Patiala.

The fact that the writer has Masters of Arts (M.A.) in Philosophy, English, and Punjabi apart from L.L.B., Bachelors in Journalism, a Diploma in French, and a Ph.D. in journalism accompanied by more than 30 years of teaching experience makes him a stalwart when it comes to the expertise of multiple subjects.

Therefore, Mr. Kapoor’s works reflect his deep understanding of social, cultural, and psychological issues and he presents with ease solutions to difficult problems which lead to far-reaching consequences in our lives.

He has written a number of books including Mala Manke, Khidkian, etc. He has been awarded the Shiromani Sahitkaar award for his contribution to Punjabi literature.
